What are Amazonite Stones

Although it is mainly mined in Brazil, Amazonite’s name comes from the Amazon River. The gemstone has never been found along the Amazon’s banks, however, adding some mystery to its name. Amazonite is a type of microcline feldspar with a blue-green color, and it is only available in natural shapes. This gemstone has a vitreous lustre, with a transparency that varies from translucent to opaque. When Amazonite is viewed during sunset and sunrise, its radiant beauty is revealed.

Dating back to ancient times, the bright blue-green hue of the Amazonite crystal was found in the luxurious and opulent tombs of Egypt’s pharaohs. The famous gold sarcophagus of Pharaoh Tutankhamen features Amazonite along with Lapuis Lazuli and Carnelian, adding the sparkling color of tropical waters to the sacred pyramids.

Amazonite Properties For Health

Amazonite can help heal osteoporosis, tooth loss, calcium deficiency and calcium deposits. It also relieves muscle spasms. Amazonite’s anti-inflammatory properties reduce the effects of rashes, blisters, and acne and prevent infections.
